Today’s episode is all about repurposing content. If you’ve followed us for a while, you know we’re huge advocates for consistently serving your audience high-quality content in order to grow a successful business. But let’s be honest, sometimes trying to keep up with other creative entrepreneurs or content creators can be exhausting and overwhelming.
You may be thinking, “Evie. Lindsey. How the HECK do you keep pumping out so much content? Don’t you run out of things to talk about?!” Well, we would if we didn’t implement these tips to repurpose content. We’re about to let you in on a little secret that’s going to save you oodles of time, money, and resources.
We want to share 5 ways to help YOU repurpose your content while still keeping it freaky fresh for your audience.
WHAT DOES REPURPOSING CONTENT MEAN?
Repurposing content doesn’t mean using the exact same information over and over again and NEVER change or modify it. It means adding more quality content to what already exists. It means adjusting it to fit the platform you’re posting to best. Repurposing content means you’re working smarter, not harder. You don’t have to reinvent the wheel every single time you go to write a new blog post, caption, or episode. It is exhausting as a creative entrepreneur who is marketing online and trying to reach a bunch of avenues.
Here are five ways to work smarter not harder and repurpose that content and consistently serve valuable information who need to hear it without wasting your time trying to start fresh every single time.
You can create one foundational piece of content and find ways to get it in front of different eyes or ears so that it’s received differently at times that work for them.
1. Turn your podcast episode/story series/IGTV into a blog post
It essentially writes itself. Transcribe your episodes/videos into written form. It’s a great way to hone in on your voice & understand how you speak. Turning anything into a blog post is a great way to utilize SEO on your website. You can also add any extra information into the blog post that wasn’t in the episode or video.
This also works the opposite way too by using past blog posts as an outline for a podcast episode. We bet that 99% of you listening probably didn’t know that this ENTIRE episode was pulled from an old blog post of Lindsey’s. And now because we repurposed this content we’re serving even more people who might have never read that blog post in the first place.
2. Take a blog post and turn it into multiple Instagram captions
This is a great way to stretch content to last you longer than you would have expected. You’ll spend less time and energy pouring into every single caption. If you have a blog post that has tips or interesting information, turn each point into an Instagram caption. Dive deeper into the specific subject. For each of those Instagram captions you’ve created, you can have a CTA that directs to the blog, which is chalk full-on really great information. You’ll gain more web traction as well.
3. Turn personal quotes into graphics
This is a creative way to create more visually appealing content. Comb through all blog posts, podcasts, and captions to turn into graphics for Instagram feed, Instagram stories, Pinterest, Facebook. People love to share inspirational quotes or educational information. Always, always, always add your handle somewhere in the graphic so it points back to you. This will increase your audience and exposure.
4. Take written content & visually share it on reels or IGTVs
People LOVE ingesting content by reading it, but sometimes people engage more with video. It will hit an entirely different audience. It also gives a name to a face. Anyone who loves following you for your content can then create a better connection with you. Resulting in stronger brand recognition.
Also, let’s be honest. We’re human and lazy. We would rather listen to someone’s voice than read a caption or blog post. Which means to give the people what they want. AKA VIDEOS!!!
5. Turn an Instagram Q&A into blog posts
Don’t know what to write about? POLL YOUR AUDIENCE!!! We LOVE doing this because it allows you to better understand your audience’s pain points and know EXACTLY how to speak to their heart. Ask “What are you struggling most when it comes to {insert something specific to your niche}?” Once you get responses, group together several related questions and turn them into multiple blog posts.
