We learned a LOT this year. Like, this year was freaking WILD – both in business and personally. So we’re sitting down to the mic, coffee, and chai in hand, ready for a candid conversation about 2 of the major lessons we learned this year. We’re expanding on how they happened, what we learned from them, how we plan to do better, and advice or takeaways you can have from each of them. This is a raw and honest episode and we’re really happy you’re here to get real with us.
And at the end, we even talk about our word of the year moving into 2022 and a tiny glimpse into what we’re feeling for the next 12 months.
Grab some coffee or tea and let’s get vulnerable!
Lesson 1
You can’t do it all. And what is more, is a life filled with peace, and rest, you shouldn’t want to do it all.
Carve out WAYYYYY more buffer time than you actually think you’ll need between launches and projects. It’s easy to look at your calendar and see an empty week and think you can fill that. When we see white space we see open space, but white space does not equal open space. White space is your space for rest, refreshment, creativity, thinking, and processing.
Just because a dream or goal comes into your brain doesn’t mean it needs to be accomplished now. There needs to be balance, rest, peace, and enjoyment in life. Rest is vital.
Lesson 2
Community is vital, even during chaotic seasons. As I got to the end of this year, I realized a huge part of the reason why I got so burnt out was that I didn’t have time to process with those people. Instead, it piled up and I had to deal with it at the end of the year.
The value of in-person community. If your church isn’t inviting you into the community it is super easy to be a fly on the wall and not join. Getting in the community and inviting people over to your house and making that a priority, fosters and ignites that connection. Don’t leave yourself on default and wait for someone to invite you over, invite people over for dinner at your house.
Word of the Year 2022
Going into 2022 we are taking those lessons that we learned the hard way so our word is NURTURE. Whether it’s nurturing our business and working with what we have, instead of chasing after new products or launches. And also nurturing the people and relationships that are in your life.
