One of the questions we ask almost every guest on this show is “What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned in business?” We ask that question because we are big believers in learning from other incredible entrepreneurs and humans chasing their dreams and making moves in their life and business. Today we decided to flip the mic around and point it at you…. our listeners and Heart family.
At The Heart Conference earlier this year we had a bunch of attendees sit down and share each of THEIR biggest lessons they’ve personally learned in their business.
And boy…. ya’ll brought the fire. You’re about to get smacked with powerful mindset wisdom, and tangible takeaways you can use in building your business and life, there’s even a book recommendation in there, and one of the answers made us cry. Straight up. It’s goooood.
We LOVED getting the opportunity at the conference to just point the mic at YOU and let YOU tell US what your biggest takeaway you’ve learned in business has been.
Carly McMinn:
We always talk about ready is a lie, you got to start somewhere, put yourself out there but the way that I like to think about it is you should get paid to find out what works. When you put yourself out there in little ways in the beginning you are still building some income. When you put yourself out there when it’s early, be business savvy to get paid for your time while you are building something.

Learn, make, and repeat. You learn all that you can, actually go into the world and do something, then repeat the process. Over time you will create beautiful content that impacts the world.
Darian Kaia:
You have to spend money to make money. You don’t just spend a little bit of money, you honestly need to invest as much as you’re wanting to make, plus some. Then it will go back tenfold as long as you trust the entire process.
Makayla Steele:
No one else can do what you are doing, exactly the way you do it. You are 100% valuable and worthy to be able to do what you’re doing. You are unique. No matter what you decide to do with your life and give to the world, you are the only person that can do it the way you are doing it.
Kaila Diaz:
Show up on Instagram and engage with people as if it was an actual conversation. As if you were in a room with people. Responding to DMs and every comment, truly treating people like you are trying to have a conversation with them and not just seeing them as another comment.
Caeilen:
Staying true to myself. Listening to my gut instinct and following my peace. As a business owner, you need to stick true to yourself.
Alana:
Start small, where you are. What can you do to simplify it down, start tiny, and then you can build from there. You can use the lessons you learn on a smaller scale to create something bigger in the long run.
Anonymous:
Put processes in place for everything. We all at one point or another will go through hard seasons or difficult times in life and we need to set our businesses up for those times.
Amelia:
You don’t have to do one thing for the rest of your life.
India:
When you’re looking at this from a lens of following the kingdom of God there’s a verse in Psalms, that talks about God giving you the desires of your heart. We often think that if we want to own a business, God wil give us that. Or if you want to hit this certain goal, God will give you that without any questions asked. There’s a different way to read into that verse, that God actually gives you the desire itself. The passion itself is from the Lord, when you are following Him and asking Him for His guidance and direction. If you have big dreams or goals, that’s not nothing, when you are asking God for the next steps, pay attention to those little things when you start pursuing it in His path.
Emily:
It is from Elon Musk, “If you need encouragement you shouldn’t be an entrepreneur”. It’s kind of harsh but has stuck with me. You can go to a conference and hear all these amazing business tips, but it comes down to if you are going to do it. You are capable and have the tools, it comes down to doing the work.
Ivan:
The importance of processing and goal setting before you start a project. Spend the time to process your big goals and then backtrack to create the little goals, and that process will help move the mountains.
Juliana:
Follow what sets your soul on fire. There are so many great business ideas out there and can be overwhelming to decide which one to choose or focus on first, but you should boil things down to your why. Only say yes to the things that align with your dream life and what you want to do.
Rae:
Embrace every step of the way. Whether you’re just starting, at a successful point, or somewhere in between. Every step is special.
