Today’s episode is the start of a two-part series that we’re STOKED about. We reached out to a past bride of Lindsey’s, Raziel Rizzo. She photographed her and her husband Caleb’s wedding in San Francisco last February. We asked Raz to be on the show to interview her as a past bride to truly spill the tea on what it was like working with Lindsey as her photographer.
Raziel’s Story
Raz is a 5ft Nicaurgaian, SF native, and a doctor in physical therapy. Jesus is her best friend, followed by Caleb and her twin sister. She met Caleb when she was 15, he does not remember it at all, but Raziel does because she instantly thought “hubba hubba who’s that?”. He was playing indoor soccer with one of Raziel’s close friends and she had gone to see them play, there was Caleb, he was a Senior and Raz was a freshman. Our life continued separately, that was it. Fast forward to when Raz was twenty-one, we transitioned from our church to another church which ended up being Caleb’s dad’s church. There he was and our love story continued from there. In January 2012, he asked Raz to be his lady and asked her dad if he could date her. He courted her from there their love story continued!
What was your overall wedding planning experience like?
It was super joyful and super stressful, they can both coexist. From the start Caleb and she knew, they wanted to get married in San Francisco. But San Francisco isn’t cheap and we knew we would be paying for 90% of our wedding. That just meant we would do a lot of DIY and we knew that was part of the stressful portion. But it also created a lot of joyful moments, with girlfriends helping Raziel make stuff. The little details made it fun to plan our wedding.
Why did you choose Lindsey originally as your photographer?
For Raz and her sister’s 30th birthday, they went to Hawaii. Caleb had lived in Hawaii with his nana for a year, and they met up with one of Caleb’s close friends for dinner one night. We talked about their wedding and they showed them their photos. Raziel was so close to shedding a tear because there was something about what was captured in so many different pockets of their wedding. As it turns out Lindsey was their photographer. Their photos tugged at your heartstrings. After she saw those, she knew she needed to have Lindsey be a part of their day. It was more than a picture it was a moment.
What are things that blew you away that Lindsey did throughout the experience working with her?
Find the right people that work for you. Lindsey created a seamless process. One, she was super personable. Two, she provided all the information, and guidance through it all. As a photographer, she did all of that for them.
No regrets about hiring Lindsey, it was one of the best decisions that we made. The only regret is not having the budget to have Lindsey stay longer. Raz would have wanted Lindsey to start from the moment they were getting ready till the moment they left the venue.
What was the most helpful thing Lindsey did along the process that made it stress-free and comfortable?
Before the wedding, Lindsey sent a list telling us to start thinking about what pictures we wanted her to take. She gave an idea of a skeleton and that was really helpful.
On the day of, it was really helpful to have someone with the level of skill Lindsey has guided these massive groups. Knowing how to make everyone feel so excited. She makes herself a part of her couple’s lives quickly and makes it so effortless to be with your partner in front of the camera.
What are the biggest lessons you’ve learned from hiring your wedding vendors? What made it easy and not easy for you?
What made it easy was knowing what we really wanted. Going back to our nonnegotiables and knowing what was most important to us. Make sure you are finding people that can carry out your vision so you can make sure you love and trust what happens throughout the day and after. Find people that are the right fit and don’t compromise.
