We’ve all experienced off seasons in our business. Often, they can cause us to freak out or give up. But, instead of looking at a slow season as a negative, turn that perspective around and think and you’ll start to find that this season can actually be a huge blessing.
Slow seasons can actually be WILDLY productive and helpful in your business.
Today we are giving you our top 4 things you can practically do when the money ain’t coming in the bank account and you’re twiddling your fingers waiting for a potential client to hop in your inbox.
1.Learn and Grow
Use this time to learn and grow. This time is a great opportunity to dive into a course you bought, read up on books, watch Youtube videos, and soak up every bit of education. Do anything and everything to learn.
When business is slow take that time to keep ingesting information and grow your knowledge and business. We can get so caught up in the hustle and focusing on clients that we forget to invest in our business in this way.
In this day and age, there is nothing that you can not find somewhere for free on the internet. Google is your best friend. Utilize it.
If you are not in a position to financially invest in yourself, that is okay! Take your time, which is a major blessing in a slow season, and search for that information on your own. Google it, listen to podcasts, read business books, download audio books, go on Youtube and Pinterest.
The average CEO reads 52 books a year. Most of the top leaders in the world are constantly ingesting new information, education, and knowledge.
As you get busier and more successful, you have to create slow seasons. 7:00 Busy is way too glorified in this world. Slow seasons are such a blessing. When you get more successful you have to physically block out dates to intentionally be slow, rest, and take a breath. Enjoy it while you have it and look at something that could be deemed negative as a positive.
2. Experiment with or implement new Marketing Strategies
If you haven’t already done research and begun implementing Facebook ads, start now! This is an incredible opportunity. Facebook ads can be a time suck in terms of setting them up. But, once you get them set up, the results are mind boggling!
Secondly, for any creative business owner who has a visual product or a product that you are creating visual content for, start utilizing the power of Pinterest marketing!
Finally, if you are a product based business, start looking into influencer marketing. This is where the future of marketing lies.
The slow season allows you to step back from the distractions in your business and set aside time to uplevel your marketing game.
Slow seasons do not mean you are not successful. Slow seasons do not define the quality or success of your business. Every business model is different and every business’s capacity and capabilities are going to look different.
3. Revamp the backend of your business
We all tend to push the backend of our businesses to the wayside. We get caught up in the doing of our business rather than working on our business.
Work on ways you can improve your client experience and add value.
A great way to do this is to uplevel or create client gifts. If your clients are spending hundreds, or even thousands, on you, then think of a way to thank them and make them feel valued and loved. If you are a product based business, work on your product packaging. Focus on making your packaging branded, professional, and high quality.
Another way to create value to your business is to create a TON of content. Create blog posts, pdf freebies, write emails for an email list, and Instagram posts.
Work on the nitty gritty. These are the details you don’t want to focus on at all.
This can look like setting up a budget if you don’t have one, making sure your finances are in order, and going over the legal side of your business.
If you don’t have an email list set up — use this time to set this up! Work on your email funnels, templates, and workflows.
4.Keep creating!
When your business is slow, DO NOT ACT LIKE IT IS SLOW. Keep posting to social, creating, and working on your art or service to make it better. If people aren’t paying you to do that thing, keep doing the thing you do.
Learn a new skill if you want to! Use this time to benefit your business and art. Slow seasons can also be a great time to experiment with new skills and strategies. Just keep moving forward!
Perfect your product and be sure you are staying at the forefront of people’s minds. Know that no drought lasts forever, there will be rain eventually. If you are going through a slow season, this will not last forever. Keep your spirits up and you will get through it! Prepare as if you think the next season is going to be the busiest season you have had so far.
