If you have ever struggled with feeling overwhelmed by your future or your goals or if you’ve ever just felt entirely visionless and lacking clarity in your life. Buckle up because today’s episode is about to be such a blast of fresh air and bring you so much clarity and permission. Today we get to talk with the incredible Jenny Randle.
Jenny went from a career in the heart of Hollywood to a faith-based author, national speaker, and chart-topping podcaster. Her search for meaning in the everyday moments of life has led her to write her newest book Dream Come True, where Jenny encourages readers to dream on for the glory of God and the good of others.
Today we talk with Jenny about dreaming with God, what to do when your dreams feel too big, and how to break those big dreams down into manageable bites. We cover what to do when you feel visionless or lacking clarity in your life and goals.
Jenny even live-coached Lindsey through one of Lind’s biggest dreams that she’s never shared publicly before, helping her break down a massive goal into tangible, actionable steps.
If you’re ready to get your world rocked and get blasted with life-giving truth and powerful, applicable takeaways from a powerful woman of God: KEEP. ON. LISTENING.
Married to her hot surfer husband, Matt, and with two kids living their dream in northern Florida. Jenny is in ministry and her husband and she founded a ministry called Freedom Creatives. Where they help creative souls grow through developing skills, launching projects, and leveling up their purpose. They do that by answering three of those hugely messy questions which are “who is God”, “who are you” and “what are you created to do”. That is all done through speaking, writing, coaching, hands-on courses, and teaching. Jenny is also an author of devotionals and speaks throughout the nation.
A ten-year experience where Jenny completely ignored a dream that was on her heart. At the time she was in her mid-twenties working in the entertainment industry, with a background in video editing, she was working with the biggest studios out there. At the time she felt like God was calling her to step into speaking, but didn’t feel like she had it in herself for that. After telling one person that dream, when then responded with “Well why would you do that?”. Of course, human Jenny twisted those words to “you’re not good enough, you’re insignificant, you’re never going to make it”, then for ten years she battled those thoughts.
Always seeing other women or leaders speak at church or business conferences and continue to get this feeling of “I could do that”. It was this God-confidence that finally broke through where Jenny felt God was saying to her “the question isn’t ‘who do you think you are’, but ‘who do you think I am?’”. God is bigger than our excuses and knows what He is doing if He puts a desire on our hearts so we need to trust Him with that. Ten years in after battling all those insecurities, Jenny shared it with a close friend, and this time she said “YOU CAN do those things”.
From there Jenny spoke at her first film festival and things kept progressing in that career to where she transitioned out of the entertainment industry. Now as a writer she has found that other people struggle similarly. We make so many excuses or don’t have proper thoughts about God in what career calling can look like. Or what even dreaming with Him even looks like in a healthy perspective.
This was the one book that came the most naturally to Jenny. As a procrastinator for 10 years as well as Moses in the Bible, Jenny bounces back and forth between herself and the parallel life Moses lived in her new book.
In regards to dreaming, God gives us His divine strategic plan. In that plan it’s the way He communicates His dreams or callings to us. And again we see this modeled in the life of Moses. He was called to free the Israelites from Egypt but didn’t feel like he was qualified or ready. We can look at Moses’ journey and learn from his situation.
There are a lot of different ways that God gives us His plan, first and foremost is having a relationship with Jesus who connects us with God the creator of the universe.
God empowers purpose for us.
God establishes passion in the ordinary everyday circumstances of life.
God creates pivot points.
God calls out the problem.
God casts vision into our future.
God sends you, commissions you to go and do that thing.
These are all the things that build up His divine strategic plan. He gives us a blueprint of what it looks like to move forward with Him in this dream.
A dream is a placeholder where our unmet potential meets God’s unlimited possibility. We can dream all day long, but it is the act of doing that gets it rolling along. Your labels and roles don’t define you, your key indicator of who you are is crafted by who God is. We don’t have one calling, we have a million callings. The question is, what is it right now?
This is a great place to be when a dream is so big that you’re unsure of where to begin. Embrace the big vision. Remember we see pixel vision, we only see one little dot whereas God sees the overarching way our life is going to unfold and look. If you’ve caught a big vision of a dream that He has placed before you, that is amazing but realize getting a 350-page manifesto of how to get to that dream isn’t realistic. Figure out what is the next right thing and then do it.
Put the dream down on top of your paper then you take three big pieces of that dream and write it underneath it. Actionable tasks that don’t feel intimidating or unqualified. These will help you get the job done.
Understand why you don’t have any dreams. If you are dreamless, prayerfully consider are called to help somebody with their dream right now? Consider if there is a dream that the Lord has given you that’s “smaller” that some might not deem as a dream but is something that is on your heart. Maybe there is a dream there but haven’t placed a label on it so it feels like you are visionless but the reality is your not.
Figure out the things that are weighing you down? It’s understanding your passions and what makes you come alive. As well as what is hindering you in this season because a lot of times the things we are fighting against are the things God is inviting you to fight for.
Amid our failures, God can still redeem them. What we define as failures, God just defines as a moment for redemption.
What success looks like. Within in that knowing when to show up and when to settle. When to push forward and get stuff down versus when to settle into a different type of schedule and not hustling.
