Today we unpack some strategic sales principles you can implement everywhere: from your website to your client consults all the way to your follow-up emails after sending a proposal. We even share our personal thoughts, opinions, and experiences as both business owners AND our experiences as clients which have both shaped a LOT of how we seek to communicate with our clients, stand out from the crowd, and actually close the sales.
Put your pricing on the website!!!
We won’t even inquire with service providers in the creative space [unless we know them personally or were highly recommended by a close friend] if we don’t see at least starting prices on a website. It decreases a lot of your inquiries that are low qualifying leads.
Reply with a DETAILED first email
- Who you are
- The experience you provide
- What they can expect
- Respond to them personally on what they said in their inquiry
The first email should also include a pricing guide. Have an autoresponder sent out to everyone who inquires with you that tells when they can expect a response, and include freebies or a blog post for them to chew on in the meantime. When they inquire you are giving them the meat and potatoes.
Consult Call
Start with THEM and their story. Verbal vocalic setting the direction of the call and why you start with that – don’t make them confused. Don’t bring up finances on the call, it can feel sticky and awkward, but send a follow-up email with a recap and then break down the specific package they were looking at in the email. Ask for the sale at the end of the consult call but is not pushy or desperate. Do not be afraid to verbally ask them to define if they are ready or not.
Send 1-2 follow-ups after a reasonable amount of time after the consult call
Make this kind and ask if they have any follow-up questions. Tell them if there’s any time limit/expiration date/other inquiries but say it in such a way that’s not like PUSHY or weird.
