Today we are sharing our thoughts and opinions on the photography industry and the changes we have seen. We have been professional photographers for 10 years. We have noticed a lot of shifts. We’re covering the pros, the cons the good, and the bad.
Join us today for a candid chat through the changes in the photography industry!
What’s In
Documentary style (vintage and nostalgia). Cinematic edits are in (the film is POPPIN now) high contrast is out. Blurry photos– with pantyhose is in. Everything wants to be cozy and eclectic. The wedding industry is almost slowing down and cozifying. It’s still extravagant but in a nostalgic way. The film coming back!
It’s the return of childhood. It’s the GenZ wanting things to come across as real.
What’s Out
Adventurous epic locations were THE RAGE in 2016-2020 (did Covid change this?!) Heavy posing used to be a thing. That’s all the industry knew at the time. Instead, it’s setting a scene and letting your couples interact naturally (storytelling is in). Boho is well on its way out.
People mostly KNOW the value of good photos now
In general, in our culture, there is a return for an appreciation of photos. There is a shift in people appreciating photography.
