We are spilling our hearts and perspectives on how to combat all those feelings, what to do practically when you feel those lies begin to bombard your mind, and how to make an even bigger impact on your life (with more peace flooding yourself daily) so that you can truly leave a legacy that changes and shapes lives.
Self-doubt is self-focused
Your focus is fully on yourself. Stop thinking about yourself. If you are insecure about who you are, you are saying God made a mistake. You’re believing the lie that you’re not worthy when God says you ARE!!
When you do things scared and unqualified you’re giving space for the world to see God’s power moving. When we do impossible or scary things that are beyond us, the world sees God, not us. And that’s our whole mission.
When we let satan get into our minds and convince us that we’re not qualified enough to do something. And we let that stop us from going after the thing God has put on our hearts, we miss out on the life-changing power that someone else will experience by us showing up doing the thing God has called us to do. Get out of your own head. Stop making it about you, make it about the Lord and others. Get out and do it scared.
Find your source in Jesus
Turn your attention to Jesus and to others and watch what happens. If you’re feeling powerless, hopeless, lost, confused, tired, or stressed you’re probably not plugged into the vine. He says “his yoke is easy and his burden is light”. He says “come to me all you who are weary and heavy laden and I will give you rest”.
There is SO MUCH FREEDOM and truth and peace in His presence. It’s beyond compare. One of the things we’ve learned in God’s presence that’s changed our whole lives is to focus on gratitude and choose joy in every season. Fear can’t survive surrounded by thankfulness and joy.
Fear of man above fear of God.
When you place your identity in people’s opinions of you, it’s like standing on quicksand. People’s opinions will constantly change and sway with the wind. WHY are you placing SO MUCH POWER on something as fickle as strangers’ opinions of you?
YOU HAVE TO KNOW WHO YOU ARE. YOU HAVE TO KNOW WHO’S YOU ARE. When that foundation is solid, the opinions of people who don’t know you DON’T MATTER.
Why are you afraid of doing something? Why do you think you’re unqualified? Why do you think you’re unworthy of the dreams in your heart? Why do you believe you’re not welcome in a room? It’s because you’re afraid of man’s opinions of you. You’re placing the power of your life in the hands of people who don’t know you. Look to Jesus. Place your identity and worth in HIM.
HE says you’re fearfully and wonderfully made.
HE says you’re a child of the King.
HE says he didn’t make a mistake when he made you.
HE says his image bearers.
You have to change your internal dialogue.
Your beliefs become your thoughts,
Your thoughts become your words,
Your words become your actions,
Your actions become your habits,
Your habits become your values,
Your values become your destiny. (Ghandi)
God says that life and death are in the power of the tongue. (Prov 18:21) He tells us to guard our hearts for everything we do flows from it. (Prov 4:23) He tells us to take every thought captive. (2 Cor 10:5) He tells us to set our minds on things above not on things of this earth. (Colossians 3:2)
We HAVE to guard our minds and our hearts. Every single lie and whisper of “You’re not enough. You can’t do this. Everyone will laugh.”. Those are fiery darts that the enemy is throwing at you and you HAVE to block them. Period.
How are you confident and sure of yourself and what you’re doing? It’s not us. We’re not special. God is.
