Why You Need an Email List
One of the most important pieces to do business online well is, you must have an email list. The quality of your business and energy is directly tied to the strength of your email list. Your email list is an asset that you own.
Here is why it is important, social media is fickle, and that algorithm will change like that, but when you have an email you list you have names and emails of people who want to hear from you, you can always make money, you can always move your business forward and you will always be in control of that asset.
How to cultivate a successful email list
It is very normal for it to feel overwhelming when you have not started an email list. The first thing is you want to get an email service provider- software that you can collect the names and emails and send out the email broadcasts.
Next, create something of value that people want. Something they would be willing to give up their name and email for that freebie. At first, keep it super simple. A cheat sheet, a guide, a simple blueprint, etc. You’re going to use your social channels and talk about it on a regular basis.
The number one mistake people make is they don’t email their list. You want to focus on really adding value. Don’t worry about people unsubscribing.
What do you email them?
- You could do a stand-alone newsletter. Every week you offer value, not linking to something but a newsletter comes out every week.
- You could create a podcast, video show, or blog, and once a week you are directing people to those channels.
What is ManyChat
ManyChat is a tool to help automate your direct messages on Instagram. If you go on a video on Instagram and tell people to comment on a certain word, then automatically on the backend a message would be sent directly to that person. Amy uses this strategy to grow her email list. One way she does that is she did one around a digital course, she made 3-4 posts on her newsfeed to have people comment COURSE and she would send a free resource to help them start their own digital course. It will go to their DM and you can have a full-on conversation, all automated but detailed.
What is your favorite book you’ve read recently?
10X is Easier Than 2x by Dan Sullivan & Benjamin Hardy
What is the biggest lesson you have learned in business?
I have to stop taking things too personally. I need to keep my eyes on the prize, keep my head down, and not take things so personally. Focus more on what you think about yourself, not what others do.
